Saint-Meslin-du-bosc est passé par de nombreux noms avant de devenir celui que l’on connaît. En effet, le nom de la localité est attesté sous les formes Semeleingne en 1307, Semelaigne en 1387 et 1412, Saint Melaigne du Bosc en 1542 et Saint-Melain-du-Bosc en 1672.

Saint-Meslin-du-bosc went through many names before being named as we know it. Indeed, the name of the locality is attested under the forms Semeleingne in 1307, Semelaigne in 1387 and 1412, Saint Melaigne du Bosc in 1542 and Saint-Melain-du-Bosc in 1672.
