TOURNEDOS-BOIS-HUBERT
Un peu d’histoire :
Tournedos-Bois-Hubert, village de plus de 400 âmes d’une superficie de 799 hectares, se situe à la limite sud-est du territoire du Pays du Neubourg.
Autrefois, le village s’appelait Tournedos-la-Campagne, la dîme était partagée entre le curé qui en recevait un tiers et l’abbaye de la Noë à qui revenait le reste. Il fut réuni au hameau de Bois-Hubert en 1845. Il possédait un moulin à vent aujourd’hui complètement disparu.
Le seigneur de Tournedos est cité au cours d’un procès en 1198. En 1203, il fut témoin d’une donation aux Templiers de Renneville. Le village a conservé son église, édifice en pierre du XVIe siècle dédié à Saint Leufroy.
Sur le hameau de Bois-Hubert avait été bâti le château du Fay, qui fut la résidence du Baron de Sepmanville (1762 – 1817), seigneur de Tournedos lors de la révolution de 1789, navigateur et maire de Tournedos puis d’Évreux. Ses cendres ont été transférées dans le petit cimetière de Tournedos-Bois-Hubert. Le château a été incendié en 1944 et seul la façade subsiste. Le pigeonnier et les communs du XVIIe siècle sont construits en pierre et silex.

A bit of history :
Tournedos-Bois-Hubert, a village of more than 400 souls with a surface area of 799 hectares, is situated at the south-eastern edge of the Pays du Neubourg territory.
In the past, the village was called Tournedos-la-Campagne, and the tithe was shared between the parish priest, who received a third, and the abbey of La Noë, which received the rest. It was joined to the hamlet of Bois-Hubert in 1845. It had a windmill which has now completely disappeared.
The lord of Tournedos was mentioned in a trial in 1198. In 1203, he was a witness to a donation to the Templars of Renneville. The village has preserved its church, a 16th century stone building dedicated to Saint Leufroy.
On the hamlet of Bois-Hubert was built the castle of Le Fay, which was the residence of Baron de Sepmanville (1762 – 1817), lord of Tournedos at the time of the revolution of 1789, navigator and mayor of Tournedos and then of Évreux. His ashes were transferred to the small cemetery of Tournedos-Bois-Hubert. The castle was burnt down in 1944 and only the façade remains. The dovecote and the 17th century buildings are built of stone and flint.
